I have been blessed to be born into a family where stories are retold, learned from, and cherished. Perhaps one of the problems in the world today is that we don’t seem to share true, everyday life stories which have the capability of normalizing life’s frustrations and achievements. In writing biographies from my own family history, my intent is to build bridges between all groups of humanity; to help us discover our commonality instead of focusing on our differences. My books read like fiction, though they are not. In my books, real people make mistakes and only sometimes fix them; they have questions and look for answers they don’t always find; and if Prince Charming does appear, it’s okay if he has a few warts.

No Ordinary Life and Help Me to Feel are the first two books where you will meet Helen, my mother. Helen reminds me of Laura Ingalls, Anne of Green Gables, and Ramona Quimby, all rolled into one loving, adventurous, insightful, real-life girl. Her stories, though nearly 100 years old, are not bound by time or place but belong to all people.

I’m honored to share Helen’s stories with the world.
